Easy readers (also called early readers) are short books with only a few sentences per page, illustrations or photos on each page, and larger text. Decodable easy readers are books that kids can use to sound out using their phonics knowledge.
Children transition from easy readers to chapter books. Chapter books for books for growing readers, generally around ages 6 and 7 to about 9 or 10, with chapters and illustrations.
Chapter books are books for ages 7 to 9 written in a larger size font than middle grade books for more advanced readers. They usually have pages with limited text, such as only a few sentences or paragraphs.
I highly recommend chapter books in a series. Once you get a reader hooked on the first book, they’ll have more to read in that series.
