Did you babysit? I started babysitting when I was around 10. I think I earned $.50 an hour. My goal was to buy a horse. It took me to about age 12 to figure out that wasn’t ever going to happen so I used my money on horse riding lessons instead. But, it was a great job for a kid!
Did you babysit?
How about your kids?
In this new book, Best Babysitters Ever, three 12-year-old friends decide to start their own babysitting club based off the Babysitter’s Club books by Ann M. Martin so they can earn money for a big, amazing 13th birthday party. The plan is for the girls to babysit together as a team. Then Malia’s big sister Chelsea steals the idea and their business so the girls need to put a stop to that — plus figure out how to handle all kinds of crazy kids at their babysitting jobs. The friends come from different socio-economic backgrounds and ethnicities. Their entrepreneurial ideas can show readers how to make and spend money responsibly.
This book isn’t up my alley but if your kids are fans of The Dork Diaries then they might like this type of book. For me, the snarky humor and girl drama don’t appeal.
