Geometric snacking

Yes, you can do geometry with food!  Remember your shapes? Didn’t you just hate proofs in high school math? Or was that just me?  None of that here so let’s talk shapes . . .

You’ll need:

toothpicks

soft, squishy food – raisins, Craisins, marshmallows, fruit snacks

rasin art 300x225 Geometric snacking

Two dimensional shapes are fun to make with toothpicks and your food of choice – I like raisins but my kids don’t. Use whatever they’ll eat later.

Try squares and triangles first. Then, eat and try for more. Maybe build a house with a square and a triangle roof. Can you make a duck? How about a train?

Three dimensional shapes are a bit more challenging. Think Egypt and pyramids . . . isn’t that a square bottom plus triangle sides? How about a triangular prism? (Top and bottom triangles, sides are rectangles.)

Directions: Build. Eat. Build. Eat. Edible art math.

Have fun!
