Anne of Modern Mrs. Darcy gives her (grown-up) readers a reading challenge every year. She inspired me to make a similar year of reading challenges for kids.
Reading Challenges for Kids
Like Anne’s challenge, the goal in this reading challenge is to read 12 books in 12 different categories in 12 months. I’ve purposely built in flexibility to make this easier to achieve. Alternatively, your children can set their own 12 book goal if these categories don’t appeal. Whatever gets them to read and read in a variety of texts, that is the goal.
Use this challenge to inspire lots and lots of reading.
Maybe you could even do the challenge along with your kids?
I think this will be tons of fun!
What do you think?
Like Anne, I suggest you keep track of your books either in a journal or on Goodreads. I personally track my favorites on Goodreads so I can always remember what I read and know where they’re stored. (I lose journals like crazy since I kind of hoard them.)
