I’m impressed with the new online encyclopedia for kids called DKfindout! It’s FREE, safe, and extensive (though not all-encompassing on every topic.) The site is easy to navigate, shows gorgeous photographs just like in the DK books, and is easy-to-read for kids ages seven and up.Â

DKfindout! contains age-appropriate information on topics such as science, math, English, history, geography, the human body, and more with more than 300 animations, 300 sounds, 9000 photos, 100 videos and 3000 articles. Whoa.

Notice that at the bottom of the screen shot below, you’re given the category and subcategories of the “Animals and Nature” and “Cats.” That means you can click on any of those tabs if you want to change your selection. Also, within the “Domestic Cat” or any of the category pages, if you click on the name of each thing (in this case, cats,) a paragraph pops up about it.
Scroll up and down or left to right for more types of domestic cats with a paragraph of information about each one.
Are you ready to give it a look?
I should mention that you can also pick to see videos, fun facts, and photo galleries, or take quizzes.
Off you go–Â just click below to get started. Have fun exploring!
