Do your students know that published authors go through the same writing process as student writers? (brainstorming, researching, planning, drafting and editing . . . )
Celebrate the National Day on Writing With Author Kate Messner
Join New York Times “Notable” author Kate Messner’s live Google Hangout to learn more about her writing process. Messner will also share about the publication process — how authors, editors, copy editors and illustrators work as a team to publish a book. The Hangout will be on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at 12:00 p.m. ET on Google+ and will run for about 40 minutes.
The goal of this Google Hangout is that students leave the event with not only a new appreciation of the writing process, but with the confidence that anyone can tell a story.
Before the visit: REGISTER for the hangout. Download and try a FREE student activity on writing inspiration (generating story ideas) in the classroom. Read one of Kate Messner’s books if you have time. The virtual event will focus on the Ranger in Time chapter book series but you can read any of her books. My review of Ranger in Time is here. Also, write questions to ask Ms. Messner.
During the visit: Ms. Messner will take questions from students and teachers so bring your questions.
