You’ll recognize this author, Audrey Wood. She wrote Silly Sally and The Napping House, two of my all time favorite books.  But, did you know that she’s written 55 great picture books?

Here are some of my favorites: King Bidgood’s in the Bathtub – My favorite of all her books!

It’s a hilarious story about a king holding court all day in the bathtub. A Cowboy Christmas is a touching tale of friendship and Christmas from the perspective of a fatherless boy.

Elbert’s Bad Word, Alphabet Rescue and about 50 more including The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear. The Napping House is a book you must own. It’s amazing.

From The Napping House Google preview,”There is a house, a napping house, where everyone is sleeping . . .” Have an Audrey Wood Book week! Read as many of Audrey Wood’s books from your local library.

Try the activities on her website with her husband, Don Wood. Notice how many of her books her husband, Don Wood, illustrates.  What book illustrations do you like best?

See if you can notice similarities in her books.  Now, write Audrey Wood a letter (or email) telling her a favorite book and why it’s a favorite.

See if she writes you back.  I bet that she will. Visit Audrey Wood’s blog.
