Playful Learning Apps

TOCA Cars $.99

Create your own city or drive around a pre-made cardboard 3D-looking city. It’s a bit disorienting and my kids aren’t as crazy about this app like the other Toca apps.

TOCA Builders $2.99
Toca Builders is like Mindcraft-lite because kids get to build their own worlds and buildings. It’s a fun way to create and be creative. Both my kids like it.

Abricot Hide and Seek FREE

Gorgeous and complex illustrations make this one of the best search and find puzzle apps I’ve seen. The Land of the Ogres is free while the other worlds (dragons, giants, goblins, fairies, and wizards) require you to purchase the app.

Solitaire Chess by Think Fun FREE

Your older kids love the challenge of Solitaire Chess from Think Fun. It’s a combination of peg solitaire and chess meant for one player with many different challenge levels. Each piece moves as it would in a chess game. Every move must end with a capture and when there is only one piece left, you win. It’s tricky – which is a good thing. It makes me think and it will make your kids think, too.

Fairytale Maze 123 $2.99

Preschool mazes with fairy tale characters and settings.

Toddler Maze 123 $2.99
Fun mazes! Drive the ambulance to the hospital, help the little bear cub find his way home, or take a walk through the city’s underground sewers with the alligator plus more.
