We’re half-way through summer vacation here in the States, and kids are experiencing reading slumps. Today, I want to recommend some beginning chapter books for early readers who need some good books. Since you want to keep the reading momentum, all of my suggestions are books in a series. Get hooked on one, and you’ll be set for awhile.

One of our favorite graphic novels, Zita the Spacegirl, is a true friend who not only saves her best friend but the galaxy!

These colorful princess stories are printed on colorful pages. Fun stories of different girls in relatable adventures.

Daisy is an endearing, curious heroine with adventures (and troubles) sure to delight young readers. We loved all the books in this series!

Huge Fancy Nancy fans here, we read Nancy Clancy Super Sleuth this summer – it was a hit!
I am so happy to see Nancy grow with my girls. Looking forward to more from this series for sure.
As always Melissa, I leave here with a list of new books to check out! Thanks for the great resource.
Thanks for this list. My grandson loves the Nate the Great series about a boy detective.
Love this list!! Can’t wait to share it with my son for some more great reads for him!
Definitely Calvin Coconut as we are going to Hawaii! My son loves Frankie Pickle and Alvin Ho. Thanks for the great list!
Have fun in Hawaii, Mia!
I’d like to add one very old series that has, in my experience, NEVER failed to get boys reading: My Father’s Dragons by Ruth Stiles. I know this is a list of newer books, but these three books have been so successful for me that I thought it worth mentioning here.
Amy, I didn’t actually realize it was a series – thank you!!
