You know those cute little erasers that are so popular right now? Well, use them to inspire a story idea for beginning writers!
All ages will have fun with this writing idea, especially beginning and reluctant writers. (Photos from the Imagination Soup writing workshop today.)

I found packets of erasers like these for $1 at Michaels.
Writing Lesson: Beginning, Middle, End
Read only the beginning of a picture book with limited words. I read Children Make Terrible Pets by Peter Brown.
Stop.
Talk about how the beginning introduces the character and setting. Ask, “Where will your story take place? Who will be in your story?” Use the erasers to get ideas.
Talk. Draw. Write.
Read the middle of the picture book.
Stop.
Talk about the middle of a story. The middle is the action, usually a problem. Ask, “What is going to happen in your story? Is there a big problem?”
Talk. Draw. Write.
Read the end of the picture book.
Talk about what made it an ending and why you couldn’t have ended the story in the middle. Ask, “How are you going to end your story?”
Talk. Draw. Write.
Share your stories. Read for bedtime. Keep in your bookshelf. Celebrate your creativity!

Wow, fab idea! My little boy would love this. x
What a great stuff.. I love to use those erasers on my writing.
I love those cool erasers! I want to write a story using them! 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
I like that idea. We have a box of those cute but expensive Japanese erasers from about two years ago, maybe 3? Before the Silly Bandz craze.
My kids didn’t use them as erasers but they would use them like mini stuffed animals to play with. Such a good idea to use them as writing prompt! Plus, if they make a mistake, they can always ERASE it!
