We found the most success with the in person classes taught by an OT who only taught kids with learning differences. It was SO helpful– and structured! If you can find an in-person class, that would be my suggestion. Our instructors used Desert Racer. Hi Melissa, did you find any specific program recommendations for kids with ADHD? With a poor working memory its essential that i get my 9 yr old son learning to touch type so he can use the little working memory he has for the content. He’s hating the touch typing in school so I’m trying to find a program that also doesn’t make him race (as he has slow processing speed). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks for the great list! My child uses a Windows PC that is offline, can you recommend any Windows based typing software that can be used offline?

We use Keyboarding Without Tears. Unfortunately, it is not user friendly for teachers. Students are required to do larger amounts of typing without any breaks or fun mixed into it. There is no game approach. Kids lose interest quickly especially in 3, 4, 5 grades.

I found a Type to Learn jr. disc at a used store. My kids loved it. Thanks for more ideas. I’ve been thinking about getting them back into practicing.
My kids are 8, 8, and 10. I’d like to get them more automatic at using the keyboard.
