Toys That Develop Early Learning Skills

Educational Insights sent me several products from their brand new line for younger kids (ages 2 – 4) called Bright Basics. The toys help kids develop essential early learning skills through playful toys.
Visual Discrimination, Early Math Skills, & Fine Motor Skills
The Nest and Stack Cubes are 10 beautiful cubes the blue star design of which is based on the nursery rhyme “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”.
The five sides of the blocks show a number, a shape, a constellation, and other starry illustrations.
My testers, like most kids, loved stacking them up only to knock them down again! Because knocking things down is super fun.
The blocks spark teaching moments — what color is this? What shape is this? And as we know, rich conversations build knowledge and vocabulary. This is good.
Isn’t this a great learning toy?!
Practice Fine Motor Skills & Pretend Play
My young friends also played with the Bright Basics Busy Barn from Educational Insights. (It might remind you of your old Little People barn!) It was a big hit! (And kind-of-hard to share with sister.)
The Busy Barn is a barn with lots of fun extras: press down the blue lever to make the top yellow chick balls pop. (Yes, it makes a popping sound as air pops them into the air.) Spin the clicky orange dial. Slide the window puzzle pieces into place. Open the barn doors to put your cow and calf figurines inside.
If you notice, the size of this toy is meant for little hands and fingers. They’ll get important fine motor practice while imaginative playing!
Put the cow in the barn. Close the doors and the lever. Then, take the cow out. It’s what kids do. And it’s important.
