Hi Melissa,
What a brilliant site. Are you still reading as I see most posts are from 2011? If so I think I might have a couple of books you would enjoy for the kids, POLLY'S PIRALYMPICS or (Paralympics for Pirates), How Polly Became a Pirate, Polly Ya Na Can Fly. They are all part of a series based on how the pirates hold their own Paralympic Games.
They include anti-bullying, cheating isn't cool and disabilities/challenges and how we ALL have one.
The events follow guitar playing Americans, tattooed Kiwis, yellow turbaned Indians, Abba singing Vikings, kilt wearing, bagpipe playing Scots and vuvuzela playing South African pirates all competing for GOLD.
Events include: walk the plank diving, climb the rigging gymnastics, 3 legged race and a Masterchef competition plus many more.
So I would love to hear from you if you would like me to send you a pdf copy ( I live in South Africa) so hope that would be ok

Wow! What work! My kids still have several years before these books are on our shelves but I'm going to bookmark this one. The first book on the gypsies sound intriguing. Thanks!

Mark page, add to goodreads, reserve at library.

Thanks for this!

Wow, I've never heard of Anna Branford, I think it's only in Australia because it doesn't come up on Amazon.com for the states. Sad!!!
