It’s time to go back to school and Quaker has asked me to give you some quick and healthy weekday breakfast tips.
Plan for Calm
A few years ago, I realized that in order to have a calm, organized morning routine (including breakfast,) we had to wake up 15 minutes earlier. Now breakfast for is our for-sure family meal of the day. It sets the tone for the rest of the day.
Get up earlier.
Get organized the night before.
Have a checklist for your kids of what needs to be done. (lunch, teeth, hair, etc.)
Set an alarm for a 5 minute warning before you need to leave.
Eat breakfast as a family.
Plan for Nutrition
I know my kids need protein at breakfast so we make sure that it’s always on the menu.
(My husband and I have a system that works for us– he cooks breakfast and I cook dinner. I love it!)

2. Scrambled Eggs and Oatmeal

Plan for Giving Back
“Kids can’t learn when hungry. Think of yourself if you need a meal and can’t get one for awhile for some reason (although I think you are good about self-denial as you are free of so many things like sugar and glucose). But growing kids need food,” explains teacher Carolyn of Wise Owl Factory. “The longer I taught, the more I spent on my classes. It was about $3000 a year (three thousand) out of pocket the last 7 or 8 years. Many teachers spent $1000 or $2000.”
Help teachers like Carolyn stock their classroom with nutritious snacks and supplies. Three in five K-8 public school teachers say their students regularly come to school hungry.
Quaker is teaming up with AdoptAClassroom.org to help teachers. From July 7 to Sept. 30, help teachers supply tools for their classrooms by purchasing specially marked Quaker products and entering the unique package codes online at www.QuakerUpForClassrooms.com. For every code entered online, Quaker will donate $1 to AdoptAClassroom.org up to $250,000 (minimum donation of $150,000).
