Beautiful New Science Magazine for Girls: SMORE

Smore is a new STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) focused magazine for girls (and boys) ages 7 – 12. It’s goal is to make science learning fun with an ad-free bi-monthly magazine. It’s beautiful, interesting, and sure to be a big hit with tween girls!
Visually the design is appealing — easy to read fonts, clean design, and eye-catching visuals. What’s more, the visuals help support the informational text, making comprehension easier.
The readability of Smore is perfect for the tween age group. The text is slightly challenging but not too difficult. Among other things, I like how new vocabulary words are highlighted or bolded.
Smore was founded by parent, teacher, and scientist, Sarita Menon, Ph.D. She explains, “I am a passionate advocate to inspire and support girls in science. I have always wondered what could I do to change the equation and get young girls to pursue their interests towards a STEM future.”
The contents of Smore include science news, scientist bios, young female scientists, kids in science, space technology, experiments, puzzles, trivia, and more.
Smore is live on Kickstarter here until April 27, 2017. Or you can order a subscription here.
