From reading to writing and math to science, music, and art, there’s well, one hundred, fun ideas. Here’s one of my favorites — a silly, hands-on counting activity with play dough. It’s a good game for kids learning to count and also to learn how to match the written number with its physical representation.

Direct your kids to make play dough monsters. Then, tell them to give their monsters lots of eyeballs — up to 10!

Kids learn math by moving physical objects, also called manipulatives, because the physical is concrete, not abstract. Encourage your count the number of eyeballs on their monsters.

When they’re ready for the abstract, you’ll want to connect the concrete (the number of eyeballs) its corresponding written number. Display your monsters with the corresponding written number on the cards.
