Remember Josie Bissett from Melrose Place? Now she’s a mother and a picture book author as well as an actress. Her newest book, Boogie Monster Dance Kit, is awesome because it’s not just a picture book meant to get kids up and moving around, it’s more! It’s . . .

1 Boogie Monster Boogie Music CD by Recess Monkey
(*Preview the CD!)

Cool, right? In case you were wondering, the Boogie Monster comes from the planet Boogie to dance with YOU! Check out his dance moves –
“Let’s start by imagining ants in our pants.
Then wiggle and jiggle your hips, knees, and shins,
and that’s just the way that this Boogie begins.“
//
“Now here is a move that you might like to try:
pretend you’re a helicopter up in the sky.
Just hold out your arms
and start yourself whirling
and spinning and soaring
and twisting and twirling.”
This book encourages lots of kid-friendly moves such as dance like a hungry bear, float like a cloud, move like a stiff robot of steel, and waddle like a penguin. And, as you can see, the box in is a work of art in itself.
We also love Josie Bissett‘s other picture book kit, Tickle Monster, which comes with a beautiful box, a picture book of the same title, and tickle mitts. Cute, huh? The beautiful illustrations are done by Kevan Atteberry.

Similar to these book kits, and also from the Compendium store, is another book we love — the I Love Monkey Discovery Kit written by Suzanne Kaufman which comes with a picture book, a plush Monkey and a beautifully designed box. Preview the book, Tickle Monster.
Compendium is one of those stores that I could literally buy everything it carries – you might want to check out their other products, too which are meant to inspire. (No, they’re not paying me to say this, it’s just my truthful opinion!)

My girls love to free dance. We usually go through different staions on the radio and stop when we like a song. Let me tell the music varies and my girls get creative. It is so much fun!

I think I missed the deadline… but just in case! My 16-month-old loves to dance to Creedence Clearwater Revival. I kid you not. He could use more kid music in his life!
