Green Your Lunch For Spring

I know you have spring fever, we do, too! But, there’s still more school and more lunches to eat so I must tell you about Easy LunchBoxes.com, designed by mom of three, Kelly Lester, because they are our favorite, waste-free, eco-friendly lunch box. The Easy Lunch Boxes are totally helping our family save plastic bags and be more eco-friendly. And, another bonus is that AJ loves them so much, she’s packing her own lunch at age eight! What’s not to love about that?

Consider how many kids who pack snacks and lunches contain their food in plastic sandwich bags. I know we’ve done that before. Now, in a class of 25 kids, how many plastic bags are in the teacher’s trash can every day? All the kids in the school who bring lunch and snack added together . . . That’s a lot of waste per day! Doesn’t that seem wasteful?

So, first I tried flannel lunch sacks but those weren’t quite working for the foods that we packed and I didn’t have enough. Then, we tried Bento Box lunches with the separate little containers. But, AJ didn’t like having a lunch box that looked different than everyone else. So, when we got Easy Lunchboxes and the more traditional looking purple cooler bag, it made us both happy.

Now, with the extra room in the cooler, if something (like a yogurt) doesn’t fit, we just stick it on top of the container and it all fits in!

Above and below are two recent lunches. Yes, lots of carbs but at least it’s independently done! I’m thrilled.

A set of containers is $13.95. The carrying cooler is $7.95. I recommend getting both. FAQ here.

One of my favorite features on this site is all the lunch box ideas — 97 pages of ideas! Here’s one of the yummy ideas from the Easy Lunchbox website:

Looking at Yummy Lunch Ideas was a good reminder that kids need just a few things, 3 strawberries, 5 olives–it was like accessorizing, a few well chosen colors and flavors.

I love the different compartments, and that it’s all one piece. I always use plastic containers, but sometimes it’s a struggle to close the lunchbox–but not with these!

Great idea!!

Where were these containers when my children were small!?!?! They wouldn’t eat food that touched other food on their plates, packed in lunches, etc. These are great.
