A Book for the Whole Family, The Butt Book

The Butt Book by Artie Bennett won’t gross you out. It will crack you up.

Get it? Crack?

I’m laughing by myself, aren’t I? Oh, poop.

Anyway, The Butt Book is a perfect just-enough potty humor kid book to gives kids an excuse to say butt. Seriously, what kid (or husband) doesn’t like to say butt? (Remember when you learned how to spell butt? Hilarious stuff!)

Let me share with you some of my favorite rhymes:

” Buttocks is the

formal name –

and no two buttocks

are the same.”

. . .

Artie Bennett’s website shares 40 words for the butt including:

1. arse
2. back porch
3. backside
4. behind
5. booty
6. bottom
7. breech
8. bum
9. buns
10. caboose

You must visit Bennett’s site to find the rest of the butt words, plus a good butt joke, and fascinating butt trivia. Fascinating.

Win your own The Butt Book! Comment below with your favorite word for butt and you’ll be entered in the random drawing. Thank you to Artie Bennett for providing this cheeky giveaway. Ha, ha. (I’m still laughing by myself, aren’t I?) Contest ends Dec. 7, 2010.

My grandma calls it a buppie – she’s Norwegian and it came out with an accent so I can’t even spell it the way it sounds. It stuck and we all use it – though my 5 year old just started using the word butt and it’s cute. (If you ever do a boob book – we call those num nums. yes, the little kids in the family call them that. ha!)

Anyway, my favorite word for butt is booty. At least it’s what I use when I talk to my daughter.

Great giveaway!

My favorite is curple, but it’s not on the list. I used to tell my nephew to use that word so my brother wouldn’t yell at him for saying butt.

I always liked the very Victorian “sit-upon,” but in my house we usually call it a bottom or booty.

Well, I didn’t see my favorite “butt word”–”Pompis”…such a funny word. I also like the word, “bum” for it. There would be many laughs in our family with this book!

Boy, what a fun contest! We’ll soon be up to fifty or more words. How could I have been so neglectful? I’ll have to do a serious Web page update soon. Please keep them coming. And I love “sit-upon.” In fact, I should’ve called it “The Sit-Upon Book.” “Butt Book” is so . . . unrefined. Thanks, everyone, for all the great additions and the many gracious and heartening comments. And hi, Michele!

We’ve always called it botsy. I thought maybe it was British from my boy’s dad’s side of the family so I had to look it up. According to the Urban Dictionary: Noun: Caribbean (esp. Barbadian) slang word for a person’s bottom.

My Haitian friends call it a Buddha and the Spanish friends call it a . . . ! I love both names!

Hey – I edited out the word. Yes, in Spain, it means bum. In other countries like Mexico, that word is considered very crude – so I thought we’d leave it out of the comments section.

I just tried to post, but it didn’t work I don’t think, so I’m going to try it again! Hopefully, this doesn’t end up a duplicate!

You are definitely not laughing alone because I am laughing too! What an hilarious review!!! I think this book would be so much fun for both my son AND daughter! They definitely cannot get enough of shaking their booty around our house! Or, if you want another favorite term . . . bum! :)
