Books Make Me Happy: My First Reading Log by Judy Pelikan got me thinking about reading habits at home. Do you have good reading habits? Does your child? Good readers read for fun. Good readers find that books make them happy.
But not every child is a good or happy reader. For those children, it is important to show how joyful reading can be!
Thinking about books in meaningful ways is important — a reading log is a great start.
This book asks you to record the book, author,
- your favorite part
- why you would recommend it to a friend and
- a drawing inspired from the book.
Give it a whirl and let us know how it goes! Happy Reading!!

My girls would love “Books Make Me Happy, My First Reading Log.” This is so much cuter than a regular, plain notebook!

Count us in. This is a neat idea and would be used at our house.
Thanks for the opportunity!

Looking for ways to inspire my students. I would love to win a copy!!
I think this would be a great tool to encourage my 5 year old to read more and comprehend more. Great product!
I have a reluctant reader so I would like to give this reading log a try.
My two mom friends and I decided to have book meetings for our kids. We meet in the library once a week. Kids do their book reports and present to their friends. They also need to fill out a reading log every night. We’ve been doing this for a year and a half now. It will be awesome to have official reading logs for all of them! (7 kids)
My little pre-reader is all about the books. She would love this!
We love to read and we do keep reading logs for school … but I do love the idea of doing this more indepth kind of log. Lovely idea … thanks for the thought.
