Crawly Bugs for Math Patterns, Shapes and Addition

Congratulations to Lori!  Random.org picked you as the winner!

Discovery Toy’s Busy Bugs ROCK!  Both my 4 year old and 7 year old LOVE them . . . and our 3 year old friend and his little 2 year old brother LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them, too.

The 36 colorful bugs just make you want to count, sort and classify.  Double sided rectangular cards give kids boxes for them to sort by color or shape of bug.  The beginning cards have colored squares of different colors.  Kids match the bugs to the colors.  The harder cards ask the kids to match the color and the bug.  Next, the cards work on patterns – red dragonfly, yellow beetle, red dragonfly, . . . — and adding.

So, the 2 year old loved the sqeezy bugs.   The 3 year old brother wanted to match up colors.  My 4 year old tried all the cards and sat, “playing” until she’d done them all.  My 7 year old organized the bugs into a rainbow parade pattern.

I would buy this if I were you.  It’s an awesome teaching toy and on sale until February!  Enter to win a free copy, courtesy of Sherie Wren, Discovery Toy Consultant in Colorado.  Contest ends January 30, 2010.  Open to Imagination Soup subscribers in the U.S. and Canada.

We have had Busy Bugs since my oldest (8 now) was tiny. They have always been a fav and even though some of the bugs have now been scattered throughout the house, the bug box still comes out.

That looks like something my son and daughters would enjoy.

This sounds GREAT. Something like this would have made math much more fun “back in the day.”

thanks, Melissa!

My girls are always sorting pieces from different games and counting them. This would be a great product (and maybe it would cut down on all the mess they make of mixing different game pieces…or add to it. Hmm…)

Thanks for the chance to win!
