Teach WORDS

Teach grocery store words like deli, bakery, checker, stocker, and coupons.

Create & Plan Roles

shopper, checker, bagger

Pretend Play

Make a list. Save your grocery store ads.  Have your child cut out his or her favorite foods, paste them on a paper, and try to write the word.  If your child is young, help them figure out the beginning letter sound of the word. (see above)

Shop in your pantry for the list or shop at the grocery store.

Buy items from the checker. Bagger bags the groceries.

Restock the food on the shelves.

Older kids might want to pick a recipe, and make a real list for the ingredients.  Cooking with kids is a great activity for quality time and learning.
