Remember the Mary Poppins song? “Let’s Go Fly a Kite?”
In Colorado where we live, we end up running a kite more than flying a kite. Still, my kids love the running. I love the wearing out.
There’s something so symbolic about the kite flying, the wind blowing, the freedom, the delight . . . It’s good for the soul.
If you want, add in some kite stories. Here are a few favorites of mine.
The Kite Fighters (chapter book)
Kites: Magic Wishes that Fly Up to the Sky
(Happy to drag the kite along . . .)
Incidentally, after this kite dragging experience, my husband told me I had assembled the kites wrong. I guess that does help the overall flying experience. Who knew!?
